SDCZ48-016GB Disconnects
Here we have a SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 16GB Flash Drive that connects briefly to the computer and then abruptly disconnects when trying to access files. The flash drive uses a SanDisk 20-82-00543 controller which is actually a re-badged Phison 2251 controller. When SanDisk first introduced USB 3.0 flash drives in 2013 and 2014 they re-badged Phison controllers on their 8, 16, 32 and 64GB drives before implementing their own USB 3.0 controller. This case had a bad passive component, likely from a power surge, that was causing a short to ground which damaged the controller. The NAND chip was undamaged and we were able to recover all the data.
